Statement from Horizon Housing Chair Nino Di Marco

19 September 19

On behalf of the Horizon Housing Board, I would like to share that CEO Jason Cubit will end his tenure with the business after 12 years this week.

Jason’s contribution to Horizon Housing has been invaluable. We thank him for his incredible commitment and action in moving the affordable housing agenda forward in Queensland.

Jason joined the business as CEO in 2007, when it was called Gold Coast Housing Company. From humble beginnings – a small office in Ashmore and a hundred properties under management, Jason has steered the organisation to chase big dreams and solve real problems for the most vulnerable people in our society.

Under Jason’s leadership, Horizon Housing has achieved significant growth becoming the first provider in Queensland to be nationally accredited. Horizon is now not only the state’s leading community housing provider but also part of Community Housing Limited Group, Australia’s largest not-for-profit affordable housing provider with more than 11,000 properties across six states.

Jason had the following comments regarding his departure:

“I am very proud I have been part of an awesome team that has seen Gold Coast Housing Company, now the Horizon Housing Group grow into what it is today,” he said.

“I extend a huge thanks to all the staff, directors, shareholders, financiers, developers, builders, support agencies, government stakeholders and our tenants that have been part of the journey with myself and my team over the past 12 years.

“It has been quite a journey with high and low points but overall an extremely rewarding experience. We should all be very proud of what a little Gold Coast community housing organisation has achieved. Thank you.”

On behalf of the entire Horizon Housing Board, I wish Jason all the best for the future.
