Expressions of Interest - Non-Executive Director

07 August 17

Horizon Housing is multi-faceted social enterprise, specialising in the delivery of residential housing management and construction.  With a significant property portfolio, Horizon Housing collectively manages approximately 2,400+ homes across three organisations, ranging from benevolent social housing programs, to managing a significant NRAS portfolio.  Our housing solutions aim to encourage sustainable tenancies by adapting to the changing needs of our clients, key funding partners and community stakeholders.  Our organisation currently consists of three companies, with two wholly owned and controlled Not-for-Profit companies and a majority owned For-Profit subsidiary that holds an Australian Financial Services (AFS) licence.

Amongst other key governance objectives is the need to ensure ongoing compliance with the National Regulatory Code for Community Housing.  As a Tier 1 Housing Provider, Horizon Housing must operate under the expert guidance of a skilled Board of Directors.  Due to impending Board vacancies (based on rotational requirements outlined in our Constitution), we are currently seeking expressions of interest from a range of skilled candidates with professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • community housing expertise;
  • social policy development, specific to housing policy development on a national, local and regional scale;
  • strategic asset management, specific to a large scale social housing provider;
  • housing development, procurement and construction; and
  • extensive strategic financial management experience.

To be successfully appointed as a Director on the Board of Horizon Housing, each candidate must also demonstrate that they possess the essential skills and personal attributes necessary to perform their duties as a Director, commensurate with the size, nature and strategic intent of Horizon Housing.

As a Director on the Horizon Housing Board, you will be provided with an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of the largest housing providers in Australia. Candidates based on the Gold Coast would be desirable but not essential.

Given Horizon Housing’s charitable status, Directors are remunerated in line with the organisation’s charitable objectives.  Nominations for the position of Director are subject to the endorsement and approval by Shareholders in accordance with Horizon Housing’s constituent rules.  Further information will be made available to persons who are offered an interview.

If you are interested in making a difference to people’s lives and would like to know more about the appointment process, please contact Samantha Evans, Company Secretary at companysecretary@horizonhousing.com.au.

Please submit your CV, along with a covering letter outlining your interest to the Company Secretary by COB Friday 1 September 2017.

We anticipate interviews will be undertaken between 19-22 September 2017 with 9am and 4pm reserved, so please ensure your diary allows availability during that time.

Please note: In accordance with our internal governance rules, no Officer or employee of a Government Entity or an entity owned by a Government Agency may be appointed as a Director of Horizon Housing.
